Why I Love Western Digital My Passport

Couple of months ago I bought the Western Digital My Passport, 750GB external portable hard drive. Just by looking at it you would not find it so exciting. However, I have notice that it helps me a lot in the back ground.

Why I really like the WD My Passport?

It is not too small or too big to carry.
Use only one USB to power it up as well as transfer data.
In build backup software make it easy to sync/backup files between the hard drive and computer.


There are many softwares that I would like to keep with me specially in situation where I need to recover data, reinstall the OS, make the computers run faster or clean up the Trojans viruses or spyware. I can easily keep couple of live OS cds and many other small programs that required.
You can always use it to store any type of file that you really required when you are on the run.

How to convert Microsoft Word to XML

Converting a Microsoft word file to XML can be useful for those who do programming. Specially if you required to write a program to convert Microsoft word file to another format or to work with XML. You can only apply this method for Word 2007 and Word 2010.

1. Create a new file in MS Word and save it. If you already have a file then you are not required to create a new file.

2. Then change the .docx file extension to .zip.

3. Open the zip file in your favorite zip file program.

4. You can see a folder structure with .xml file.

It can be used as a real-time translator (you can go to a foreign country and have no problems with getting around, because youll be able to read street signs).

You wont have to pay attention to your environment very much, since Sixsence will be able to give you information about your environment in real time (e.g. not knowing what street youre on).

You wont have to necessary need to hold a book or manual in front of you (Sixsense can project informational material onto a nearby wall).

Of course, there are downsides to having such fantastic technology readily available:

You might accidently throw out or project your personal information if you dont know what youre doing with the Sixsense gadget.

Hackers may see this as a grand opportunity to gain quick access to a persons personal information

People might be inclined to turn their brains off, since they essentially have a device that can feed them answers by their own finger movements.

Jail Break HTC Desire - What a Joke

A couple of months ago I really wanted to get the HTC Desire a cool phone.. The only drawback was that the Desire was tailored exclusively for a Telstra phone plan, and I really didnt have any interest in signing up with them But I still wanted the phone though.



Don't believe the  salesman
So one day I go to the phone shop and tell the salesman
that I wanted to get the Desire without having to sign up
for Telstra. He tells me basically that if i buy just the
phone, i will have to unlock the phone if i want to use the
internet on it.

I ask salesman #2 what my options were. She was a little more
blunt, saying that nothing on the phone would work without
my having to unlock the phone, (even basic functions)!.

Salesman #3 tells me something else, that the phone should work
with other plans, but that I should get the Telstra plan.

Great.

So i decide to get the phone solo and take my chances.
If I have to unlock it for some reason, then ill just unlock
it.

Limitations

The HTC Desire is a pretty cool phone.It works with other
networks besides Telstras and I can take calls, receive calls,
send and forward messages, and have no problems with the signal
strength (even if i hold the phone in a weird way).

The only drawback was that eventually i found out that I couldn't
connect to the internet using my current mobile service provider.
Talking to the previous sales people, I thought i would have
to unlock the phone. So I went to a Telstra shop and asked
them what i should do. They tell me that the phone is already
unlocked, but that i just have to change the APN (access point
names) to my carrier.

So I add the APN from another HTC phone that I know of which
is already working with my network. I restart it - works
perfectly.

Home Screen >
Press Menu button >
Go to Wireless & network >
Go to Mobile Networks > (not Mobile Network)
Go to Access Point Names >
Click Menu button >
Go to New APN >
Fill all the necessary fields for your carrier. you can always ask the
settings from their support team.

Vodafone APN settings

Name - can be anything eg: VF Live
APN - live.vodafone.com
MMS protocol - WAP 2.0
MCC - 505
MNC - 03
APN type - default

rest of the fields are blank. Then click the Menu button and

 Restart your mobile and you should be able to
connect to internet from your mobile data plan.

iPhone Revolution

iPhone revolutionized the way we use the mobile phone. Apple has introduce lots of cool and advanced features that no other mobile company would have thought of at that time they were the pioneers in mobile phone technology as we know it Today. I Cannot fault with this directly as you can use a mobile without a video camera. The Battery is not Removable

Although Apple products are not going to crash or stuck as easily as Microsoft products. But it can happen and as quality as Apple products are they still freeze I have also noticed this with iPods. In the event of an iPhone freeze the only thing that you can do is wait for the battery to discharge and as many business people are using the iPhone these people do not have the time and need their phone 24/7 with business time is money as the saying goes.This leads Apples business users in a difficult and frustrating situation when they have to wait for the battery to discharge they could be missing important phone calls.

If Microsoft was release a phone without one of these options they would have gone through a really hard time with all the criticisms from both fans and Apple haters. Luckily it was Apple who done this and not a smaller technology company that would have gone out of business with such small mistakes.

Now Apple is trying to revolutionised the way you hold the phone. However, this time Apple is having problems answering all the customer complains and seems like they are trying to cover it up. Maybe Apple is planning to release iPhone 4GS in 2011 or before that but if they do I hope it will have all the the basic features most mobile users require otherwise they could start loosing out to android based phones. Rich text signatures - Official Gmail Blog

This is long waited basic feature for Gmail. Finally it is there.

The next time you log in and visit the Settings page, you'll see a rich text editor in the signature section. Here, you can customize your signature by adding pretty formatting, links, and images — or decide to leave things nice and simple.

Gmail also now supports a unique signature for each email address associated with your account. So, if you send mail using a custom "From:" address, you can use a different signature for that address. From the Settings page, you can edit the signature for each account by changing the email address that appears in the dropdown menu.
