Google Chrome OS – a PC that runs on a browser?

0 Comment(s)
Google, Inc. is an American based enterprise that is mainly engaging in Internet search, advertising technologies and cloud computing. It was founded in 1998 by Sergey Brin and Larry Page as a follow up on their research project, which they started while still studying at Stanford University. Their idea was to abandon the commonly used technology of ranking the sites by the repetition number of the search terms that appear on a web page and created the PageRank technology that scored site importance by checking up on backlinks. The BackRub engine they programmed became Google through a spelling mistake of the term googol, the term is used to define the number that has a one and hundred zeros behind it, and suddenly history was made.

What does Google do that has nothing to do with the search engine?

Because most, if not all services that are provided by Google to individuals are free of charge, almost the entire revenue comes from advertising. In lieu of this, most of the free services Google provides, must serve this purpose, namely collecting of information that will provide Google with sellable assets. These assets are being used by advertisers to better contact, influence, control, identify and manage possible clients for their products that they are eager to peddle. it is therefore questionable in how far does Google Chrome, the browser, assist Google the parent company in this task.

Android

Google acquired the Android, Inc. in 2005, and the financial push allowed the founders to develop the first and only true competitor to the Apple iOS until recently. Nowadays the former Palm, Inc. and now HP operating system for mobile and hand held devices, the webOS is entering the market in big numbers and with a lot of corporate and financial support behind it; as well as the only just established co-operation between Nokia and Microsoft that will propel the Windows Mobile 7 to the front ranks, both are capable of competing for the top spot. But despite Apple being the frontrunner for quite some time, Android has finally managed to overtake Apple with market share and combined revenue.

Chrome OS

Nobody really understands why Google is producing a competing platform within the same roof. The idea was simple, extending the Google Chrome browser to have an operating system kernel and be able to power certain devices, mainly for web surfing and limited tasks. Android does that and then some. But Google Chrome OS is not supposed to be more than Android, but less. Instead of creating a scaled down version of Android, or even allowing users to use as much, or as little, of the existing operating system, Google developed since 2009 an operating system that is supposed to be used in proprietary created netbooks, the so called Chromebooks, for surfing purposes alone, with some limited features added. General impression by the media and by people who had the opportunity to test the prototype Cr-48 is that they are convinced this idea will fail. Nevertheless, a handful of prominent manufacturers signed on to this project, such as Acer and Samsung, whereby first Chrome OS powered Chromebooks will be made available in mid-June 2011.

Are you ready to make your phone your wallet

0 Comment(s)
Smart phone is going to become smarter and smarter with the Google as Google is going to try Google Wallet app that will allow you to use your phone as a credit card. You’ll be able to tap, pay and save using your phone and near field communication (NFC). Google is field testing Google Wallet now and plan to release it soon.

It was rumored that near field communication (NFC) is going to available with Apple iPhone 5. However, Google has come up with demo and solution first.

Because Google Wallet is a mobile app, it will do more than a regular wallet ever could. You'll be able to store your credit cards, offers, loyalty cards and gift cards, but without the bulk. When you tap to pay, your phone will also automatically redeem offers and earn loyalty points for you. Someday, even things like boarding passes, tickets, ID and keys could be stored in Google Wallet.
At first, Google Wallet will support both Citi MasterCard and a Google Prepaid Card, which you’ll be able to fund with almost any payment card. From the outset, you’ll be able to tap your phone to pay wherever MasterCard PayPass is accepted. Google Wallet will also sync your Google Offers, which you’ll be able to redeem via NFC at participating SingleTap™ merchants, or by showing the barcode as you check out. Many merchants are working to integrate their offers and loyalty programs with Google Wallet.

Google wallet will be compatible with Nexus S 4G available on Sprint. Learn more about Google Wallet.

Why Apple ask Samsung expose Galaxy prototypes?

1 Comment(s)
Apple's legal battle against Samsung is gone to the next step. Apple is trying to sue Samsung over copying Apple products in Galaxy range. As a result of that federal court is forcing Samsung to hand over sample of new phones and tablets to them.

Samsung Galaxy S2, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Infuse 4G and Droid charge are the devices that will be questioned. However, Samsung Galaxy S2 and Infuse 4G of the these devices are already out in the market and Galaxy Tab 10.1 is already given out to Google I/O attendees. It seems like Apple is trying to put pressure on Korean company as it is one of biggest competition in the current market.

Patent Involve in this legal battle are D677 Patent, D790 Patent, D016 Patent and couple of more related to the Apple trade mark phone icon and Apple's iPad.

Official Google Blog: A new kind of computer: Chromebook

4 Comment(s)
A little less than two years ago Google set out to make computers much better. On 11th of May Google announced the first Chromebooks from their partners, Samsung and Acer. These are not typical notebooks. With a Chromebook you won’t wait minutes for your computer to boot and browser to start. You’ll be reading your email in seconds. Thanks to automatic updates the software on your Chromebook will get faster over time. Your apps, games, photos, music, movies and documents will be accessible wherever you are and you won't need to worry about losing your computer or forgetting to back up files. Chromebooks will last a day of use on a single charge, so you don’t need to carry a power cord everywhere. And with optional 3G, just like your phone, you’ll have the web when you need it. Chromebooks have many layers of security built in so there is no anti-virus software to buy and maintain. Even more importantly, you won't spend hours fighting your computer to set it up and keep it up to date.

Why you should Not Buy iPad 3G version (Money Saving Tip)

1 Comment(s)
This is the simplest iPad hack that will allow you to save money over buying a iPad and enjoy all the top range benefits. You do not have to spend extra to buy iPad 3G option anymore.

Advantage of buying a iPad 3G -

You can use a micro SIM card with a data plan to connect to Internet while you are on the road. When you do not get access to WIFI. Don’t try to hack into secure WIFI hot spots using your iPad. That is illegal and unethical, but less chance you would get into trouble. There is a better hack to get a portable WIFI with you.

Comparisons between the iPad 2 WIFI and the iPad 2 3G

Before we move ahead lets compare the iPad 2 WIFI and iPAd 3G versions. Apple website itself has given out a better comparison of the two versions of iPad. Therefore, I will only note down what iPad 2 WIFI version missing.

Whats iPad 2 WIFI missing

iPad2 WIFI lost 0.01pound comparing to iPad 3G. All of you you consider your health and figure would love to reduce your weight. People who are looking for portability in tech gadgets will love light weight devices. However, this is not much difference.

Under wireless and cellular you are missing the UMTS/HSDPA/HSUPA (850, 900, 1900, 2100 MHz); GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz). What? That means the 3G Data connection.

You will be badly missing the Micro-SIM card tray. May be you hate the Micro-SIM card.

Is that all? Yes, technical specification point of view those are the only features you will miss from iPad 2 WIFI only model. If you are note sure check it out at Apple iPad comparison page.

Lets move to the iPad price conparison.

iPad 2 with Wi-Fi + 3G 16GB $629.00
iPad 2 WIFI only 16GB $499.00

iPad 2 with Wi-Fi + 3G 16GB $729.00
iPad 2 WIFI only 16GB $599.00

iPad 2 with Wi-Fi + 3G 16GB $829.00
iPad 2 WIFI only 16GB $699.00

If you can go for the Wifi only model can sacrifice the 3G option you can save $129 dollars in any model. Good news is that you do not have to feel bad that you are missing Internet connection while you are on the road just because of $129.00. We will show you how to hack Wi-fi using your iPad.

Wireless 3G modem

You will only required a wireless 3G modem. It is getting popular these days as you can connect your smart phone, tablets, iPads to a portable wireless 3G modem. So, you can enjoy the Internet without 3G connection.

Huawei Wireless 3G Modem -

Operating frequency(3G): HSUPA/HSDPA/UMTS 2100MHz
Operating frequency(2G): GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900MHz
Speed: HSUPA 5.76Mbps; HSDPA 7.2Mbps
Interface: USB 2.0 high speed
Dimensions: 95 mm × 48 mm × 13 mm
Weight: 90g
Receive Diversity: HSUPA/HSDPA/UMTS 2100MHz
Micro SD card slot: Yes (Up to 32GB)

WiFi: 802.11.b/g
Encryption: WEP, WPA, WPA2

Alert! Fake Gmail Account Verification

0 Comment(s)
There is a fake Gmail Account Verification email is going around. Please make sure you double check before you enter logging details. Let's look at some simple steps where you can identify whether it is fake or genuine email and steps you can take in a case you have already given out your username and password.

Creating a fake login is one of the simplest and effective ways of hacking a gmail, msn, yahoo or any email account password. It dose not involve much programming or hacking knowladge. Attacker will fool you to steal your user name and password. I will show you how you can identify such fake emails and protect your username and password.

Lets have a quick look at a fake Gmail Account Verification I have received.

At a glance, you will not find much difference. Specially Gmail hides the senders email address. So you will see senders display name, Subject and email body, which sounds like a genuine email from Gmail team.
As soon as an email ask you to provide username and password (for any account) , bank account details or any sensitive information you should go through the following step.
1. Check the Senders email address. Check whether it is coming from genuine domain name. If the email is from your bank email address need to be from bank website domain or related domain name. In this example email came from a  domain name which is not related to Google or Gmail. Definitely, this email is fake and you do not even need to check further. However, do not forget there are ways to change the senders email address as well. In this case the attacker was not intelligent enough to change the email.
2. If the senders email address seems to be ok them move to the links provided in the email body. Normally attacker would direct you to a website or ask you to reply to the email. In this scenario, they have given a link.  It looks like it is from Google but once it is clicked it actually goes to a different domain name, which is not Gmail. So, do not type your username and the password.

In case they have ask you to reply back to an email, you can check the reply to address. It is hard to fake the reply to address, Because, they wants you to send the login details to one of their accounts.

3. Thirdly you can check the website they have provided and find out the differences. However, that might not be a good idea. Anyways, first thing I have noticed is that even though I am logged into Gmail when I click on the link it did not log me in automatically.

Finally, make sure you do not send usernames, passwords bank account details or any personal details to strangers.

How to set up Gmail to power through hundreds of messages each day - Official Gmail Blog

1 Comment(s)
Gmail offers a ton of customization, and when you get hundreds of emails every day it’s crucial that you have it set up to process mail quickly and efficiently. Working on Gmail, I get asked all the time what settings and features I use to help me power through my mail. Rather than answer my friends and co-workers one by one, I thought I’d put it all into a blog post. So here goes.

Turn on Priority Inbox. I couldn’t live without Priority Inbox. I keep the default set-up with important and unread mail at the top of my inbox and the section for everything else at the bottom.
Show more than 25 conversations in your inbox. I like to see as many emails as possible per page so I can quickly scan through my mail, so I have this set to 100 (the max possible). Go to Gmail Settings and look for “Maximum page size” which you can change to 25, 50, or 100.
Enable keyboard shortcuts. Press the “?” key when looking at your inbox to see the list of keyword shortcuts. Make sure they are turned on, then pick one or two to start with and try to learn more as you become comfortable. I probably use ‘e’ to archive my messages and ‘j’ and ‘k’ to move through messages the most.
Many of the features I love can be found in Gmail Labs (click on the “Labs” tab from Gmail Settings). I have a ton of them on, but the combo of these four work really well for me:
Inbox preview: Shows a simple, static preview of your inbox while Gmail is loading. While you can’t take action on the messages until your inbox fully loads, it’s great to get a sneak peek and form a plan of attack.
Send and archive: Adds a button that lets you send a reply to a message and archive the conversation in a single click (keyboard shortcuts work well with this one, too).
Background send: Lets Gmail send your mail in the background while you move on to more important things.
Auto advance: Automatically shows the next conversation instead of going back to your inbox after you delete, archive, or mute a conversation. When combined with the “Send and archive” button and background send, this feature makes reading and replying to messages lightning fast.

White iPhone 4 is not a secret or conspiracy any more. iPhone 4 was released on June 24, 2010 and everyone was waiting for the White iPhone 4.

"The shiny new white iPhone 4 took 10 months to deliver but it's now set the tech press ablaze -- because, well, it's white. Right, shocking"

"Apple White iPhone 4 is .2 millimeters thicker" - Will it fit to your existing iPhone casing or do you need to specifically ask for the white iPhone 4 casing? Find it out.

Another question is there a way to exchange your current iPhone 4 to a white iPhone 4. I am sure many of you bought the black iPhone 4 because of the 10 months delay.

Finally it is out in many countries now. Oh! Should I wait for the iPhone 5 or but the iPhone 4 white? It is totally up to you.
